Traffic Engineering Services in Dubai
PTV Dubai continues to build a consulting business and comprehensive set of traffic engineering services by delivering the right solution specific to each project and each client. The local team of professionals managed to improve our business efficiency by understanding the client’s needs, and delivering the projects in accordance with local standards, codes, procedures, and guidelines. Consequently, our clients experienced rapid and tangible benefits, while enjoying low-cost, high-quality products and services.
Our traffic engineering team has recently completed a number of high-profile traffic impact studies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with the following signature projects:
1. Mixed Use Development, Dubai
2. The One Tower, Dubai (Figure 1)
3. Al Qarm Development, Abu Dhabi (Figure 2)
The successful completion of these projects was achieved through the execution of the following scope of services:
- Transport modelling and traffic forecast by use of RTA Dubai VISUM model;
- Traffic analysis and evaluation of external and internal roads and intersections;
- Identification of transportation system improvements required to mitigate the impact of proposed development;
- Connectivity with surrounding network, and concept geometric design of the surrounding roads;
- Assessment of site access configuration, geometry and access control;
- Parking assessment and access demand management;
- Traffic circulation and assessment of internal road network;
- Assessment of loading and pick-up/drop off areas; and
- Development of concept design for proposed mitigation strategies.
PTV Dubai also provided consultancy services for redesign of on-street parking facilities in International City in Dubai, which covers a total area of 8 km2 (Figure 3). The increase in parking supply was achieved through the implementation of the following elements:
- Provision of on-street parking by respecting minimum parking design standards, on-street parking safety setback requirements, roadway capacity and operations, and safety of pedestrians;
- Reconfiguration of built parking facilities to take advantage of different low-cost layout solutions without compromising safety or parking circulation;
- Retrofitting of the existing roundabout facilities to provide additional on-street parking.
