VISUM-team wins map contest

DVRPC won first place in the map contest at the GIS-T symposium, with a map titled "Accessibility for Alternative Locations Derived from Google Transit Feeds". The map shows four transit isochrones that were created in VISUM, then combined and post-processed in Adobe Illustrator. The isochrones are based on DVRPC’s new regional travel forecasting model “TIM 2.0”.

DVRPC (www.dvrpc.org) is the metropolitan planning organization for the Greater Philadelphia area with a population of 5.5 million. DVRPC has been using VISUM for the regional forecasting model since 2009. Authors of the map were Drashti Joshi, Becky Maule and Wolfgang Scherr, with advice from Jon Kugel, Chris Puchalsky and Will Stevens. The GIS-T conference 2011 was held in Hershey, PA (USA).
