ROSATTE
ROSATTE - ROad Safety ATTributes Exchange infrastructure in Europe
The ROSATTE project intends to develop the enabling infrastructure and supporting tools that will ensure European access to road safety attributes including incremental updates. The data provision chain addressed by ROSATTE concerns the flow of relevant road attribute data from the road authorities to data users (usually via commercial map makers), who then integrate and aggregate the data into digital map based applications .The ROSATTE infrastructure is conceived as a set of data exchange specifications which facilitates the supply of data in a harmonised way, thus lowering access barriers currently generated by a multitude of regional data maintenance and exchange solutions on the public authorities side.
The project focuses on legal speed limits and traffic sign information as these both show the highest safety relevance and represent a real challenge in terms of maintenance. At the same time the framework can be easily extended to any other road features and attribute.
PTV has contributed to the concept and specification of the data exchange framework.
PTV has prototyped a web based data maintenance system for road regulation data (speed limits, overtaking bans etc.) data in Bavaria as well as a ROSATTE conform data exchange to the commercial map makes.
