Manual flexible transport services
Manual flexible transport services in public transport
The aim of the research project was to develop a manual to provide communal and regional players in regional planning and transportation planning with background information and planning help to develop flexible public transport services.
The manual is based on an evaluation of existing flexible types of service in public transport. Based on the analysis of the spatial structural conditions from these test samples, two selection grids were developed which were to support the regional players in answering the questions "Is the project region suitable for a flexible transport service?" and "Which types of service are suitable for the region?".
The manual is divided into seven theme-based modules (see diagram below). PTV was leader in developing the modules Module Planning, Economic Feasibility/Financing and Alternatives to Flexible Forms of Transport and developed a calculation tool to estimate the economic feasibility of flexible transport services. The manual was available as printed version and online from the start of 2009.
