Traffic
How to handle large amounts of count data? Traffic planners and engineers often come up against limiting factors, such as the collection of useless data. Therefore, it is important to conduct traffic surveys. IT-based analysis and archive options help the planners to efficiently handle these huge amounts of data.
Mobility
PAYD will give motorists greater control, choice and flexibility over their car insurance premium. Customers who drive less will pay less. And drivers, who avoid peak hours and dangerous roads, can save even more. Find out more about PAYD, that links auto insurance policies to mileage, and the technology behind this new concept.

Logistics
- New Good Practice Guide for Forwarding Agents, Logistics Companies and Urban Planners - January 2008
Urban freight transport has a direct bearing on the efficiency of the economy: it contributes to the competitiveness of industry in the region concerned and is a major employer in its own right. The future success of town and city centres, which face increasingly severe competition, notably from out-of-town retail parks, depends on how effectively they can cope with problems of congestion, pollution and noise. It is therefore important to take account of commercial interests and the environmental lobby as far as urban logistics is concerned. The BESTUFS Good Practice Guide, which was published in August 2007, is a useful tool.
Innovative solutions mark the shift towards intermodal transport. The first international workshop of the EU-funded PROMIT project (Promoting Innovative Intermodal Freight Transport), which took place in Basle in November 2006, focussed on "Intermodal door-to-door services". Find out more about sustainable and innovative intermodal transport concepts and technologies!
