Active in research and teaching
More than 30 years ago, PTV arose from the University of Karlsruhe and ever since it has been closely linked to research and education. The company always offers internships to talented young people and has a number of employees who hold chairs at universities. Students and scientific employees thus learn from professionally experienced professors and get insights from business practice.
University professors with PTV experience
Prof. Dr. Christoph Walther has been appointed an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Bauhaus University of Weimar, Germany. In the winter semester 2011/2011 he will start teaching at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, in the fields of Transportation Planning, Transport Construction and Business Administration. At PTV he is responsible for strategic development in the Innovation & New Business division.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Beyer, who joined PTV in 2005, is Vice President of the Innovation and New Business division. Moreover, he has been working as part-time lecturer at the Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control, Technical University of Darmstadt.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Peter Vortisch was appointed to the Chair of Traffic Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Before joining KIT he was head of Traffic Software Development at PTV AG..
Prof. Dr. Rainer Neumann has been teaching at the Faculty of Computer Science and Business Information Systems at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. Before joining Karlsruhe University he was Vice President Logistics Software Technologies at PTV AG.
Prof. Dr. Oliver Kunze, Competence Center Logistics, Neu-Ulm University, formerly a member of PTV's Logistics team and head of Business Development, was appointed Professor of Logistics at the University of Neu-Ulm in the winter semester 2007/2008.
Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Fellendorf has been chairman of the Institute of Road and Traffic Engineering at the Technical University of Graz since 2005. From 1991 to 2005 he was authorized signatory and head of PTV's Traffic Management business unit. Moreover, he was managing director of a wholly owned PTV subsidiary serving as a hub for PTV's international activities.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Bratzel, formerly head of PTV's Business Development Automotive division, has been lecturer and head of the Center of Automotive at the University of Applied Sciences (FHDW) in Bergisch Gladbach since 2004.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Friedrich has held the position of Professor of Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. From 1995 to 2003 he was head of the Traffic Planning Systems division at PTV AG.
Prof. Dr. Peter Freckmann teaches at the Faculty of Geomatics at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. From 1992 to 2000 he was head of the Geomarketing division at PTV.
Prof. E.h. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Brannolte has been Professor of Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering at the Bauhaus University in Weimer sinc 1996. Between 1992 and 2002 he worked for PTV Consult GmbH Beratende Verkehrsingenieure.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Klaus Möller has been Professor of Distribution Logistcs at the Business School of Pforzheim University. From 1987 to 1996 he was head of PTV's Research and Consulting division.
