Thousands of spectators watched the Formula One drivers fight for the world championship in mid November. Of course, safety on both the circuit and the access roads was an important issue during this event. For the 2010 championship finale PTV and security experts from Qualisec enhanced the traffic simulation model they developed in 2009 in order to precisely model and visualise the behaviour of the Formula One fans at the grandstands.

As one of the countries with the world's highest population, India has to cope with all key challenges facing transport and mobility. In October, PTV and India-based Sunovatech, a specialist for media design, signed a cooperation agreement to access the Indian transport market and provide their innovative solutions for transportation planning and simulation.

That's pretty futuristic: parcels provided with all essential data to find the route to the customer themselves. Will this be the future of intelligent freight transport? Maybe not within the next ten years, but probably by 2035. The study "Intelligent Cargo Systems" has developed and investigated this and a number of other scenarios for freight transport in Europe. So, let us now travel forward in time and explore the logistics trends over the next few years.

Clack! Zzzzish! Who doesn't know the sound of a can being opened? However most people don't know much about the journey of a beverage can from an unshapely tin plate to the thirsty consumer. Those who know are Ball Packaging Europe, one of the leading beverage can producers in Europe that delivers to about 400 filler points. Transportation amounts to a good 60 million kilometres a year. The company has now greatly reduced this amount of kilometres using PTV Map&Market/Personal.
