Dr. Joachim Schmidt

Date of birth: 24th May 1961
Qualifications: Joachim Schmidt studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe. He focussed on the subjects operations research and computer science.
In 1993 he graduated as a PhD at the Technical University of Darmstadt. His dissertation examined an approach for vehicle assignment planning in long-distance hauling.
Professional experience: Joachim Schmidt joined PTV in 1988. He started his career as consultant in the field of trip planning and became sales director in 1991.
After three years he was granted general power of attorney and was in charge of the business unit Planning/Dispatching Systems. In 1998 he was appointed as manager for PTV Planungsbüro Transport und Verkehr GmbH. Together with further business partners he has built up the PTV Group which provides a wide range of consulting and software solutions for the entire transport and traffic sector.
Since 1st January 1999 Joachim Schmidt has been a member of the Board of Directors of PTV Planung Transport Verkehr AG. PTV AG incorporates the major fields of activities of the entire PTV group. Over a 22-year period, he was responsible for PTV's business field Logistics.
